Our beloved Masters
Swami Sivananda (1887-1963)
Swami Sivananda is one of greatest sages of modern India. After a successful career as a doctor, he renounced the world, practiced intense meditation and attained self-realization. As a prodigious author, he published more than 200 books and pamphlets, thus spreading all aspects of Yoga and philosophy in simple yet profound words. In his ashram, the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh, Himalayas he trained many outstanding disciples. In 1957 he sent one such disciple, Swami Vishnudevananda, to teach Yoga in the West.
Swami Vishnu Devanada (1927-1993)
Swami Vishnudevananda lived with his master Swami Sivananda for 12 years. In 1957 he traveled to America, and in the early 70´s came to Europe, founding international Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres in many cities. He was a dynamic Hatha and Raja Yoga master bringing the classical teachings of Yoga and Vedanta in its purest form to the West. He was also a tireless campaigner for world peace bringing the message of peace to many troubled spots all over the world. Thousands of students have been personally trained by Swami Vishnudevananda as yoga teachers and much more have been inspired by his books “The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga”, “Meditation and Mantras” and “Sivananda Companion to Yoga”.
As teachers of the ancient knowledge of yoga we are honored to share the knowledge we have received from our teachers and through our own yoga practice. We feel very blessed of being able to help, inspire and guide our students on the path of yoga towards a happier, healthier and more peaceful life.
We always try to give each student in a class individual attention. It can be a gentle correction in a posture or a verbal instruction. Sometimes one of us will assist the other in a class, this is a great opportunity for us to really be able to give individual attention and guidance to all students.
Rajesh
He was born and raised in Kerala, South India. As a teenager, he started to work for an Ayruvedic pharmacist which lead to further studies in Ayurveda treatments and Yoga in 2004. After working as an Ayurvedic therapist and a Yoga teacher at different resorts and at a hospital, Rajesh committed full hearted to the yogic path when he took the Sivananda Teacher Training Course (TTC) in 2008 and later the Yoga-Acharya (Advanced Yoga Teachers) training course in 2009 at the Sivananda Ashram, India.
Rajesh has been living five years at the Sivananda ashrams in India as a Karma yogi and is coming back every year to do his karma yoga. While he was living in the Ashram he has helped out with the daily ashram running, also giving lectures in yoga philosophy and teaching meditation classes and daily Hatha yoag classes for both beginners and intermediate students. He has also assisted on several Yoga teachers training at the ashram.
His time at the Ashram has given him a deep knowledge and experience of yoga, both as a teacher and as a student. He always try to bring this experience into the classes and individual interactions with all his students in order to give each student the guidance and teachings that she or he needs to develop further on the path of Yoga.
Rajesh is also teaching at different Yoga Teachers Training courses in Sweden, India and at Bali, if you are interested to join one of the YTTC please contact us.
Rajesh explains his passion for teaching with the words “My work enables me to share my knowledge of the ancient science of Yoga and Ayurveda to help create wellness of mind, body and spirit.”
At the moment Rajesh is teaching in English as he still learning Swedish.
